Isotretinoin, also known as Accutane, is used to treat acne that has failed other treatments. If you have suffered with acne for years despite treating your skin with prescription and over the counter treatments, accutane may be the right medication for you. Isotretinoin belongs to a class of drugs known as retinoids, commonly understood to include all natural and synthesis analogues of vitamin A. Treatment usually lasts approximately 6 months, but is determined by calculating a target dose over a specific period of time.

Accutane works by drastically decreasing the size and sebum (oil) production of the skin; sebaceous glands. Excess sebum causes oily skin that can lead to clogged pores and decrease the natural shedding of dead skin cells. Excess oil and dead skin cells can stick together, creating plugs in pores that can become inflamed because of bacterial growth, causing acne.

Accutane and other Isotretinoin drugs help to normalize the the way your skin cells mature- al-lowing them to be sloughed from the surface rather than stick around clogging your pores. Accutane also helps reduce inflammation that causes skin redness and raised bumps in acne break outs. As oiliness is dramatically reduced, the bacteria that causes acne, is also reduced in the skin. Accutane can produce lasting benefits for the skin- in about a third of patients the acne never returns.

We have treated thousands of patients safely and successfully in our practice. Come for and evaluation and treatment plan to give you the clear skin you have always wanted.

Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are all names of products that temporarily relax the muscles that produce lines and wrinkles on the face. These tools help us to address lines that are created on the face by the repetitive motions of the muscles and to remove an line or wrinkle before it be-comes permanent. FDA approved, Botox®, Dysport and Xeomin injections are safe and effec-tive procedures that provides patients with results that can last anywhere from three to five months.

Advanced techniques allow Dr. Weishar to help to reduce the effects of gravity on the brow and upper lids, neck, jowls and mouth. Dr. Weishar uses a microinjection technique for Botox injec-tions which produces a refreshed and natural look, never frozen or expressionless. It is a mini-mally invasive procedure, allowing patients to return to normal daily activities immediately fol-lowing the procedure. A topical anesthesia can be used, if necessary. Following the procedure, it is not uncommon to experience some minor swelling, redness or bruising around the targeted site. Patients can take Tylenol to help reduce swelling and relieve and discomfort.

Dr. Weishar evaluates each patients anatomy to decide the appropriate dose of the medication to achieve your best result. She reevaluates all her Botox patients at two weeks- when the re-sult is achieved- to perform any minor adjustments that may be needed. Each patient has dif-ferent individual needs and the number of units and where the injection sites are customized to optimize the treatment for each patient. The ability to do this stems from years of experience and advanced training only available to Board Certified Dermatologists.

Botox® can brighten your attitude and outlook, remove the wrinkles of time, or make small im-provements in an otherwise perfect face. They have also been used successfully for patients with excessive sweating in the armpits.

Dr. Weishar is one of 3% of practitioners nationwide that are recognized as Expert Injectors. You can trust that you will receive the best treatment available for the best results with Dr. Weishar.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peeling is one of the original methods of revitalizing the skin. Chemical peels, also known as chemical resurfacing, are targeted for the treatment of wrinkles, acne, photoaging (from sun damage), scarring, pre-cancerous lesions, and discoloration such as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or melasma. Chemical peels promote the growth of new skin with an improved appearance.

Its popularity remains, even in today’s world of high tech lasers, because they produce great result with little downtime and allow you to maintain your skin in between other treatments. Chemical peels involve applying a chemical solution to the skin which penetrates to a depth as determined by Dr. Weishar. Different depth peels produce different results- from a mild redness without any outward signs of peeling to a more obvious few days of shedding skin. Dr. Weishar will determine which peel meets your needs and discuss your options with you to determine the best treatment plan. She will take into account your treatment goals, lifestyle, whether you can plan for any down time and how chemical peeling fits into other treatments you may be having.

Have you spent your summers at the shore? Enjoy an outdoor lifestyle? Like to play golf, tennis, watch sports outdoors? Do you or a family member have funny looking moles or a history of skin cancer? Do you have fair skin or ever (even years ago) have a bad sunburn or peeling? Did you ever use tanning beds on a regular basis?

If you answer yes to any of these questions then you should book a Complete Body Exam with Dr. Weishar to evaluate your risk of skin cancer. Dermal Fillers

As our understanding of facial aging has evolved over the years dermal fillers have played and increasingly important role. We now know that over time all faces lose the support to the skin that comes from the deeper structures of the face-fat, muscle, and bone. Dermal fillers help to replenish these lost tissues by revolumizing the face and lifting the skin into its original contours.

The best and most natural results stem from an extensive knowledge of deep facial anatomy combined with an esthetic eye for symmetry and balance in the overall effect. There is no “color by numbers” as each face is unique and what is appropriate for one patient is totally different for another. Dermal fillers may also be used to fill in superficial lines or “etched” lines in the uppermost layers of the skin. Dr. Weishar has extensive experience over many years in fillers of all kinds that can be combined to give you the refreshed and natural look that you want.

Diode Laser

Diode Laser is a state of the art, super-precise, focused laser treatment which targets blemishes. Dr. Weishar uses a diode laser in the practice to zap away tiny facial veins, facial spider veins and red dots called Cherry Angiomas that many people have extensively over the body. Light brown spots from the sun called Lentigos can also be targeted by this laser- completely removing the spot while leaving the skin completely unchanged.

Diode is the laser treatment which is most gentle to the surrounding skin because its focus is narrow and precise.

Epiluminescence Microscopy

Epiluminescene Microscopy is a non-invasive technique that allows Dr. Weishar to see features that aren’t apparent to the naked eye alone. We use this tool during your examination to improve accuracy in diagnosing atypical moles, skin cancer and melanoma.

Fat Transfer

The facial areas that can be improved with fat injection treatment include creases in the forehead or between the eyebrows, and hollows under the eyes. Fat injection can also plump up or improve the contour around the nose, the cheeks, the area between the upper lip and the nose, the jawline, and the temples. It can be used to correct scars, sunken or hollow areas, and any place on the face, hands, or neck where fat has been lost. Some of these facial areas need only one fat injection for noticeable and long-lasting improvement, whereas others will require more than one fat transfer to be adequately corrected.

The most important difference between autologous fat injection and other types of dermal fillers is that fat transfer does not introduce a foreign material into the body.  Another factor that sets facial fat injection apart from other dermal fillers is the length of time that the volume enhancement provided by a fat transfer lasts. Generally, the effects of fat injection can last from several months to two years or more. In some cases, the effects last indefinitely. By contrast, dermal fillers that contain hyaluronic acid, such as Restylane®, break down and disappear over the course of several months, making additional treatments necessary.

Once your fat transfer is complete, you may have some slight swelling and/or bruising at the donor site or the target site(s) on your face. The swelling can be expected to go away in a few days, and any discomfort you feel can be controlled with pain medication. As with all medical procedures, you should follow all postoperative instructions from your cosmetic dermatologist. Many patients return to their normal daily activities within hours or a day or two of the fat transfer procedure.

Fractional Resurfacing

We all love great results. Downtime-not so much. Enter Fractional Lasers…
One of the most exciting advances in lasers in the last years has been the arrival of fractional laser technology. Fractional refers to the breaking up of the beam of laser into tiny microbeams. These microbeams allow targeting of tissue with healthy untreated tissue interspersed. This treatment is effective against blemishes in the skin caused by acne, fine lines, pores, pigment and improves texture, tone and color. Fractional Resurfacing is also effective in improving the appearance of scars, whether they are new or old scars resulting from surgery or trauma.

The number of treatments depends a number of conditions, and a proper treatment plan will be determined at your consult. Typically 3-6 treatments are necessary. Recovery time is minimal. Your skin will heal quickly from the untreated tissue allowing Dr. Weishar to provide excellent results with little to no downtime.

Hyperhidrosis Treatment

Many people are troubled by excess sweating, and we are happy to help! Whether this problem is localized to the underarms, hands or feet there are solutions that can lead to much greater control of this issue. Options for treating hyperhidrosis include powders, ointments, electrical stimulation, and Botox injections.

Intense Pulsed Light

IPL is one of the most requested treatments in our practice- for good reason. With IPL we can give you great results with the ability to get back to your social and business life immediately.

Intense Pulsed Light can help to diminish freckles, sun spots, vessels, and other discolorations of the skin. It can be used on virtually any area of the body that shows signs of discoloration from sun exposure, including face, chest, and hands.

During an IPL treatment, your skin is exposed to an intense light. It is not very painful, with no downtime after. You may feel like you have a slight sunburn when leaving the office; and makeup can be resumed immediately.  Although you will see some results after your first treatment, it often takes 2-3 treatment sessions to see optimal results.

A regimine of a broad spectrum SPF is recommended for long lasting results

Brand new this year is the introduction of Kybella to the US. Kybella is the first and only FDA-approved injectable that contours and improves the appearance of a double chin.. It is a series of injections that ultimately dissolves the fat permanently and allows for a firmer jawline. Many men like the non surgical results that you can obtain with Kybella and some are even combining it with “Brotox” to help them stay “in the game”.

The treatment plan for this filler is customized based on the patient’s aesthetic goals, but many patients experience visible results in 2-4 treatment sessions spaced at least one month apart.

Laser Hair Removal

Excessive hair in undesired locations is a problem for both men and women. Laser Hair Removal is one of the most effective methods for permanent near-total removal of unwanted hair. Many people will see up to six months of hairlessness in treated areas and a permanent reduction of up to 90% .

During laser treatments, the hair follicle is altered by performing a series of laser pulses over the area, either permanently removing or replacing the unwanted hair with a vellus (fine, light-colored) hair. IPL laser hair removal can eliminate up to 85 percent of dark coarse hair. Almost any area can be treated with minimal discomfort and virtually no down time.

Leg Vein Treatment

Sclerotherapy is the treatment of veins by injecting them with substances that cause the cells lining the vein to stick together, causing the body to reabsorb the vein. It is a safe and successful procedure in many patients. Sclerotherapy improves the appearance of tiny veins and can treat larger veins that may cause pain and inflammation. Many lasers are being developed for the treatment of leg veins, however they have yet to be proven superior to Sclerotherapy. Dr. Weishar uses many lasers in her practice and will offer laser treatment of veins when it has proven advantageous over the current methods.

Ambulatory Sclerotherapy is a common and effective treatment for spider veins. The procedure is done by using a thin needle to inject a sclerosing solution into the veins. The solution then irritates the lining of the vessels, leading them to swell and stick together, causing the blood to clot. After a few weeks, the vessels turn to scar tissue and gradually disappear.

Foam Sclerotherapy is an advanced technique used to treat large and bulging varicose veins. By mixing a combination of a standard sclerosant with either air or carbon, the foam is created and injected into the veins to treat the affected area.

Freckles and age spots are also called pigmented lesions. The MedLite Laser is an advanced method of treating this condition by utilizing a specialized light that is absorbed by the pigment, destroying it and resulting in lightening or completely eliminating the spots.

Microdermabrasion/Dermal Infusion

Dr. Weishar is proud to be the only physician in the area to offer the revolutionary SilkPeel Facial treatment. This technique combines diamond microdermabrasion with a customized infusion deep into the dermal tissues to help address and correct your skin problems. We are able to infuse antioxidants, luminosity, acne treatments and hydration directly into the skin after gentle removal of the outer layer of skin cells. Because of the nature of this technique, patients with mild to moderate skin damage and wrinkles are the best candidates. However, the procedure is great for acne and increases the success with other treatments to reveal younger, healthier-looking skin.

Springhouse Dermatology offers the most advanced technology in microneedling available. Microneedling is preformed by inserting fine needles into the skin to create micro channels that stimulate the skins natural ability to heal. During this process the skin begins to produce more collagen and elastin. This procedure is typically used to improve the skin’s overall texture and tone, surface scarring and fine wrinkles.

Mohs Surgery

Mohs Surgery is a surgical procedure used for the removal of various skin cancers. During the surgery, layers of cancerous skin are removed and reviewed until all traces of the cancer are removed. Mohs surgery offers maximized removal with minimal damage to the area.

With this surgical method, there is no room for overestimating where the cancer-containing skin spreads, leaving more normal skin tissue than in other procedures. Mohs technique has a 99 percent cure rate for most skin cancers, which is considerably higher than that of other methods. Dr. Weishar removes many skin cancers in-office with conventional skin surgery, however if your problem requires this procedure we will send you to the very best!

Radiesse is a long-lasting dermal filler made of calcium-based microspheres. Radiesse is known as a structural filler, and is a great product to use when trying to create a firmer lift or contour to the face. When injected, Radiesse provides an environment where the body’s own collagen can grow and add volume. The procedure is commonly used in areas where there is soft tissue (lips and cheeks) as well as areas that are susceptible to deep folds and wrinkles.

Since Restylane® was approved as the first hyaluronic acid based filler in 2003, the market has exploded both among users and developers of cosmetic fillers. Now hyaluronic acid filler injections are the second most popular cosmetic treatment in the United States, after BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport® injections. Dr. Weishar offers all FDA approved hyaluronic fillers. Depending on patients needs Dr. Weishar offers Restylane, Perlane, Juvaderm Ultra, Juvaderm Ultra Plus, and Belotero at her office and she can customize a treatment specific to your needs.

The success of hyaluronic acid depends on its natural source and on its ability to attract water.  Because it is natural, it integrates smoothly into the skin with minimal side effects. Most people experience only minor swelling, and it is harmlessly absorbed into the body over time. It provides long-lasting results as some of the hyaluronic acid is absorbed, leaving the remaining amount to retain its volume by binding to water, allowing it to remain nearly constant for the entire period. Restylane and Juvaderm contain lidocaine, a numbing agent, that renders the procedure nearly painless.

The hyaluronic acid family can be used to add volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, including nasolabial folds, laugh lines, cheeks, orbital hollows, and temples. They can also be used in other fine to moderate wrinkles such as lipstick lines and marionette lines, or to enhance the fullness of your lips.

If the cause of wrinkles is loss of facial volume, wouldn’t the best treatment be to stimulate the body to produce more volume? This is the rationale behind Sculptra treatments.

Sculptra is a unique stimulatory filler. When injected it “seeds” the area and your body creates collagen around the product. Sculptra must be injected over several sessions to allow your body to create collagen in stages. It is great for the patient who wants overall improvement but subtle changes over time. One of the great benefits of Sculptra is that the collagen your body creates will remain with you for an extended period of time, often exceeding the 2 years that the FDA has approved for the longevity of the product.

Tattoo Removal

Tattoo Removal

With the growing popularity of tattoos, “tattoo regret” is also becoming more prevalent. Fortunately there have been recent advances in tattoo removal technology that make it easier than before to remove an unwanted tattoo.

Springhouse Dermatology is now offering tattoo removal using the enlighten™ laser to make the process quick, painless and safe! enlighten™ uses high-power picosecond laser pulses to target the ink and break down the pigment, making for a more thorough removal in less time.

Every tattoo is unique, and so is the individual treatment required to remove one. Many factors can determine the exact treatment needed to remove a tattoo, including color, placement and size. Color is one if the greatest variables in determining the length of treatment required, from black and red being some of the easiest colors to remove, to harder colors to remove such as blue and green, up to some of the most difficult colors such as yellow.

Typically a tattoo requires multiple treatment sessions in order to reach the ink that is deposited deep in the skin. The enlighten™ procedure is less painful than the average tattoo removal treatment, often compared to a rubber band being snapped against the skin. Any redness or swelling that may present following treatment is temporary, and there is zero downtime before you are able to return to regular activities!

Treat yourself to a natural lift. Ultherapy skin tightening is the only non-invasive, FDA-approved treatment to actually lift skin. The skin tightening process uses ultrasound energy to lift and tighten the skin naturally. boosts collagen production to help lift the brows and smooth the fine lines around the lips, under the chin and on the neck.

In most cases Ultherapy is considered a one time treatment. At your consultation the expected results will be discussed with you and whether a follow-up treatment may be recommended. Most patients do not find the procedure very uncomfortable, though following treatment mild swelling and minimal bruising is possible. Approximately 2 months post-treatment, the tightening process begins to occur, reaching its maximum after 6 months. The results lasts for up to 3 years and may be repeated at that time. Many patients opt to start with a small area such as an eyebrow lift or around the lips as an introduction to the procedure, and other areas may be added on at anytime.
