Free yourself from the hassle of your
morning beauty routine

Wake Up Radiant!

Free yourself from the hassle of your morning beauty routine and “wake up radiant!” PICO Genesis is a laser treatment to restore natural balance, clearance and radiance to the skin. Pigmentation in the skin is the result of a substance called melanin which, in high concentrations, can result in brown spots and uneven skin tone. PICO Genesis uses picosecond (one trillionth of a second) laser light to shatter unwanted pigmentation and remodel the upper layer of the skin to improve the appearance of unwanted freckles, age spots and sun spots – all in a quick and nearly painless procedure!

  • Our office is proud to be the first in the Philadelphia area to offer this amazing new procedure!
  • Two decades of experience with laser treatments
  • in-depth knowledge and understanding of laser technology
  • Dr. Weishar is a Cutera luminary and trainer to other physicians

When patients arrive for their treatment, they will first consult with Dr. Weishar regarding the areas to be treated and desired results. Patients will be asked to cleanse before the procedure begins to ensure the best results. Once protective eyewear is in place, Dr. Weishar will demonstrate the sensation of the laser on a test area of the skin before carrying on, making several passes with the laser over the areas. The process may take as little as 15 minutes, with the patients experiencing minor discomfort (often described as a rubber band snap against the skin!). Following treatment the patient will be provided with a cold compress to soothe any lasting discomfort.

Though patients may occasionally experience redness and swelling immediately following the treatment, PICO Genesis is a ZERO downtime procedure – you can expect to return to your life immediately following a session without concerns of excessive sun-exposure or healing time. In many cases, patients will begin to see the transformative improvements before they even leave the office! Results can be seen after just one treatment, with ultimate results being visible in 2-4 weeks, though some patients may require a series of treatments to achieve the desired results..

Question & Answers

Does it hurt?

Most patients experience minimal discomfort during the treatment. The sensation is commonly compared to a rubber band being snapped against the skin, though some say it is even more mild! If you are concerned about pain during the treatment, we offer use of topical numbing cream at the patients request to minimize any discomfort.

How long do I have to wait before returning to normal activities?

PICO Genesis is a ZERO downtime procedure. Patients may experience redness or minor swelling following the treatment, however this will quickly dissipate and you can walk out of our office and immediately get back to your daily life!

Can I wear makeup post-procedure?

Absolutely! Though we will ask you to cleanse your skin in our office prior to the treatment, as soon as we’re done you can reapply any makeup desired with no consequences.

How long will the results last?

PICO Genesis will have lasting impact on active pigmentation in the skin. However, it does not prevent the production of more pigment. To help mitigate further pigment development and protect the results of your procedure, we highly recommend active sun protection like using SPF sunscreen, UPF clothing and wearing a hat! If you are looking for advice on what sunscreen is best for your skin, feel free to ask our staff about the products we carry in-office.

How many treatments do I need?

The number of treatments needed differs between patients depending on the desired outcome and presentation of the pigmentation. Typically, patients require between 1 and 3 treatments, though more may be necessary to achieve desired results.
