Dr. Margo Weishar is our leading dermatologist who is passionate about aesthetic medicine. She is a strong advocate for treatment rich in the patient’s unique and natural thrombocytes to help prevent continued hair loss and stimulate hair regrowth.

Platelet Growth Factor Explained

The plasma treatment refers to the high concentration of platelets, or thrombocytes, a component of your blood that contains growth factors that are pertinent to the body’s development, cell production, and healing process. Platelet growth factor photo

Blood Platelet For Hair Loss Treatment in Montgomery County

The growth factors in platelet-rich hair loss treatment have shown to be very effective in treating androgenic alopecia, also commonly known as male or female patterned baldness. These platelet concentrated injections are minimally invasive, have no major adverse effects, and very little, if any, downtime in patients receiving treatment for this chronic hair loss condition at Springhouse Dermatology.

What to Expect During the Treatment

Dr. Weishar, our board-certified award-winning founder, and our team of aesthetic medical professionals offer this non-surgical hair loss treatment at our office in Philadelphia. During the procedure, blood is drawn from the patient, prepared, and then injected back into the affected areas on the scalp. The growth factors released during the therapy stimulate stem cell proliferation and hair growth.

Hair Loss Treatment Risks

During the procedure, in Bucks County, your own blood is used to stimulate growth which means that there is no risk of you contracting a communicable disease. Injections can, however, have the following side effects:
  • Infections
  • Scar tissue
  • Calcification at the site of the injection
  • Blood vessel injuries
Dr. Weishar will explain the hair loss treatment procedure to you and give you a detailed overview of any risks and side effects.

Is it Painful?

We have a number of ways to ensure your comfort and safety throughout your treatment. You can expect a little discomfort at the injection sites, but this subsides once the procedure is completed even though the treated areas may be tender to touch for a short period following the procedure.

Hair Growth Stimulation Results

Each patient is unique and thus the results will vary since this is not a cure for hair loss, but is effective in restoring hair growth and density in areas affected by hair loss. While patients may see improvement after one session, we do recommend a treatment plan of up to six sessions, each a month apart for the best effective results.

FAQ

How long does this treatment for hair loss last?

Platelet treatment does take some maintenance. Typically, patients will need to repeat treatment every month for three months. Once complete, we recommend you receive further treatment every 6 to 12 months depending on your individual circumstances. This additional yearly treatment will ensure you maintain the hair growth effects.

Do the injected thrombocytes for hair regrowth really work?

Yes, it really works. Dr. Weishar will perform a series of injections that prompt inactive hair follicles to start growing. These injections can also make newly implanted hair follicles enter an active growth phase.

How much does platelet treatment for hair loss cost?

It can cost anywhere between $500 and $1,200 per treatment. At Springhouse Dermatology, Dr. Weishar will meet with you for an initial consultation to establish whether or not you are a good candidate for the procedure. She will also tell you the cost of the treatment as well as the number of sessions required.

How long does it take for this hair loss treatment to work?

In the majority of cases, it improves hair growth within 4 to 6 weeks. However, it’s important to stick to the treatment plan that your doctor has designed for you. If you miss further treatments, the results for hair loss may not last as expected.
