In 2003, Restylane® was the first hyaluronic acid dermal filler to be approved by the FDA. Since then, the market has exploded both among users and developers of cosmetic fillers. Now hyaluronic acid filler injections are the second most popular cosmetic treatment in the United States, after BOTOX® and Dysport® injections.
Board certified dermatologist Dr. Weishar offers her patients the most popular FDA-approved hyaluronic fillers, including Restylane, in her Montgomery County practice. Dr. Weishar assesses each patient before recommending a particular dermal filler – or combination of fillers – and customizes each treatment to meet the patient’s unique needs. Thanks to her extensive experience administering injectable treatments, Dr. Weishar has been named a Top 3% ExpertInjectorTM. She is passionate about helping her Bucks County and Montgomery County patients look and feel their best.
Once signs of aging reveal themselves, they are impossible to reverse without the help of a qualified dermatologist. Individuals who notice fine lines, saggy skin and volume loss may be successfully treated with Restylane and/or other dermal fillers. Our patients tend to be men and women over age 21 who wish to correct lines and wrinkles or restore volume to across the midface. Restylane® is frequently used to address fine lines and volume-loss, offering correction for the following:
Dr. Weishar examines each patient’s facial structure to determine adequate dosage amount and injection sites best suited to the patient’s goals.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is the active ingredient in the Restylane and Juvéderm families of fillers. HA fillers owe their success to their natural ability to attract water. Because HA is an ingredient found naturally in the human body, it integrates smoothly into the skin with minimal side effects. Most people experience only minor swelling, and the substance is harmlessly absorbed into the body over time. It provides long-lasting results as some of the hyaluronic acid is absorbed, leaving the remaining amount to retain its volume by binding to water, allowing it to remain nearly constant for the entire period. Restylane and Juvéderm both contain lidocaine, a numbing agent that renders the procedure nearly painless.
The Restylane family of fillers can be used to add volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, including nasolabial folds, laugh lines, cheeks, orbital hollows, and temples. They can also be used in other fine to moderate wrinkles such as lipstick lines and marionette lines, or to enhance the fullness of your lips.
Since injections are non-invasive, patients can resume regularly scheduled activities immediately upon leaving our Montgomery County office. Restylane® injections are generally well tolerated by patients because the filler is formulated with lidocaine. Side effects, which are minimal and fade quickly, include swelling, bruising, irritation, nausea or headaches. After-care instructions and a follow-up appointment are provided to the patient before leaving our office.
