Since Restylane® was approved as the first hyaluronic acid based filler in 2003, the market has exploded both among users and developers of cosmetic fillers. Now hyaluronic acid filler injections are the second most popular cosmetic treatment in the United States, after BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport® injections. Dr. Weishar offers all FDA approved hyaluronic fillers. Depending on patients needs Dr. Weishar offers Restylane, Perlane, Juvaderm Ultra, Juvaderm Ultra Plus, and Belotero at her office and she can customize a treatment specific to your needs.

The success of hyaluronic acid depends on its natural source and on its ability to attract water. Because it is natural, it integrates smoothly into the skin with minimal side effects. Most people experience only minor swelling, and it is harmlessly absorbed into the body over time. It provides long-lasting results as some of the hyaluronic acid is absorbed, leaving the remaining amount to retain its volume by binding to water, allowing it to remain nearly constant for the entire period. Restylane and Juvaderm contain lidocaine, a numbing agent, that renders the procedure nearly painless.

The hyaluronic acid family can be used to add volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, including nasolabial folds, laugh lines, cheeks, orbital hollows, and temples. They can also be used in other fine to moderate wrinkles such as lipstick lines and marionette lines, or to enhance the fullness of your lips.
